missed connections

feeling like I'm missing those connections
the ones that tie a knot around the heart
pull you closer in, deeper and get to the real
the honesty, the togetherness of that
relationship
and I'm missing these connections
edges folding in, one over another
no gaps to let anyone, anything, none of it
slide in and catch me
catch me to the loose threads
stuck, tangled, in all that mess
but the needed mess to close up
that lonely bitter cold and bring in
the warmth

a new dawn, a new day

I'm revitalizing this blog for the new year. I write in many places, on Facebook, in my book blog, in my own personal journal, but haven't written any poetry for a long time, too long. I read Psalm 6 today and verses 3-4 stuck out:
My soul is in deep anguish. How long, Lord, how long? Turn, Lord, and deliver me; save me because of your unfailing love.
How to write so beautifully, with such a brutal honesty? The Psalms are so beautiful, and remind me that I am a creative person, sometimes gifted with words, and this is another way I can speak to my God about what I want to say to Him. What a wonderful thing!
